Quando Quando Guy
I think Laylee has her first crush. She has become increasingly impressed with the musical stylings of a certain Michael Bublé. Every time we get in the car, the radio comes on and she says, “I wanna listen to The Quando Quando Guy, the guy who says ‘quando quando.’”
She LOVES his duet rendition of Quando Quando Quando with Nelly Furtado. I’ll even play other songs from the disc and she says, “That’s the Quando Quando Guy! Why isn’t he saying Quando Quando?!”
“I don’t know. Maybe he’s from Canada. Canadians are like that.”
Lately she’s been asking to "look at" the Quando Quando Guy while listening to him sing the Quando Quando song. This involves me handing her the CD case so she can gaze lovingly into his face and periodically laugh a flirtatious little laugh and say to him, “Oh. He he he. It’s the Quando Quando Guy,” and clench the case fast to her bosom.
Speaking of bosoms, particularly nursing ones, I’ve been getting requests for plus size Daring Young Mom T-Shirts so I will do a separate order of the pink Adult Women’s T’s in various sizes, same price as the ringer T’s. Again, email me your size preference and when I get all the orders together the end of next week, I’ll send you payment information.

Oh, my goodness I love the Quando Quando guy too! Well, I like to listen to him, I don't usually go kissing his picture on the cd cover...
(Except when nobody's watching)

Has she asked to hang Quando Quando Guy posters on her bedroom wall yet?
Cutie!

I'm with Laylee, Quando, Quando, Quando Rocks! My kids always say, Mom can we listen to (and then they sing the next line) "Birds flyin' high, you know how I feel."
And he is very dreamy! ;-)

Duchess is in love with all her brother's friends. They come over to "hang out" with Little Man and she's all over them. Well, not literally, but she hangs around them and wants to sit by them and tries to get them things they might need.
I think she's going to be my boy crazy child. UGH!

We call him Michel Bubbly, or the Starbucks Guy (from those commercials). And I love him, too.

Amazing how early this stuff happens, isn't it? My older daughter began walking around talking about her "boyfriends" at school at age 6, much to my horror. I mean, aside from the word "boyfriend" even leaving her lips, it was always plural--plural boyfriends! At age 6!

Um, so what is Quando? Is it a song?

I had a similar crush when I was four, only the picture wasn't on a cd cover but a cassette cover! However, (even at that young age) I saw in the picture that he had a wedding ring on and I told myself that "we" would never work out! Hilarious!

That is WAY hilarious. Quando, Quando!

Okay, Emma. You're right. He is pretty gnarly looking (in a bad way). I'll try to dig up some cool pics of Steven Tyler or Mick Jagger.
Sugarmama - BoyfriendS? ACK!
Susan - we call him Michael Bubbly too.

I havent heard of the guy but I know the old version of the song. You'll be hard pressed to find a good pic of Mick Jagger methinks. Iused to love the Stones but a good pic was hard to find...
They are coming to NZ. (The Stones, not quando quando guys).

Oh I am SO glad you blogged about him! I saw him on Oprah a few months ago and LOVED him but couldn't remember his name. No the quandry- do I buy a DYM T-shirt or the CD????
3/03/2006 4:05 PM
I think I'll start my own t-shirt line: Cautious Old Mom in purple. ;)
My daughter's theme song is on that Buble' CD: "I just wanna go home . . ."

I just came to visit to wish you my best and wanted you to know what brought me here was all LDS Christian Humor Prize debockle. Read it over in Blogstream. As a High Priest defending the Church certainly can be interesting. We have a world of Orthodox Christians over there too.

Laylee has good taste. Hot AND sings well. Yummers.
3/03/2006 7:22 PM
Mmmm.... Michael Buble.... Yummmm...
(pause while I open up iTuens to retrieve said happy tunage)
Yeah, my first crush was either Prince Philip from Slieeping Beauty or Cary Grant. I'm betting on Cary but it's hard to say for sure who came first. I do know that Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid was when I was in first grade, though.
3/03/2006 10:18 PM
I should probably clarify: the reason I liked Eric so much was because I thought he looked like Cary Grant... Yeah, I've been a classic movie person since I was tiny small.

Hey ~ At least he's speaking I-talian and wearing a nice suit. Good taste. Could be way worse, I imagine.
I admit. I'm a lurker and a fan. You should come by my place some time.

My best friend (I know, that sounds very middle school!) is from Canada. She has been my best friend since Freshman year in College (I can't believe how long ago that was!!!) and I have incredible fun giving her hell for all of her Canadian-isms (just as she loves flippin' it right back about how far Americans have their heads up their backsides!). But one of my favorite Canadianisms is the rural dress-code (I'm not sure if the same national dress-code is required in the big cities, but there is a definite mandate followed by most rurals). Whenever my son or daughter come bounding out of their room in the morning...with mismatched clothes (especially mismatched patterns) I tell them, "Let's try another shirt, you look a little Canadian." :) So, I am immediately sending my beloved Kanuck friend to your blog...because she will laugh her hiney off at your Canada references peppered throughout your posts.
Very funny, you are!

"Quando quando" sounds so much sexier than "When? When?" Which, when you think about it, sounds a little needy...
3/04/2006 4:43 PM
My littlest siter in law is very into him too. He has a nice voice, but I'm not usually a huge fan of covers and that's about all the album she has contains.

Me amo Mr. Quando Quando, too, Laylee :)
